That's kind of a contradiction in terms -- it can't be a "comedy" if it has a tragic ending.

That said, I can't remember for sure, but didn't Groundhog Day have a sad ending? It was funny, but an essentially tragic situation through much of the movie.

A lot of comedy kind of sails on the edge of tragedy to be the most effective.

Tsubasa Chronicle is a really good anime. It's what almost all romance anime fan should watch. Why? It's:
-romantic (obviously)
-full of action (lots of fighting, maybe except the first episode)
-adventurous
-some funny parts (won't be good without some good laugh)
-Sad from beginning to the end (that's just what you want)

The soundtracks (background music) really fit well to the scenes, and they're really good!

The Family Stone is one of the best that I have ever seen. It is funny, but also tragic. I think anyone would love it. It stars Sara Jessica Parker, Luke Wilson and Diane Keaton (and some other stars I can't remember). Excellent.

Click starring Adam Sandler. That's the first movie of his where I cried. But it's also a romantic comedy. Now the very end turns out okay, but it's pretty sad towards the near-end.

My favorite chick flick with some laughs and tears is Steel Magnolias. It was the movie I watched with my Mom. I was 14 and that's the last thing I can remember doing with her that didn't involve shopping.
