You wanna get x alone so to kill multiplying, you divide.
You divide both sides (of the equal sign) by the variables: ab.
Now, since x is alone, you just solve.
x=cy/ab (/ is divided by.)

x= cy/ab
since you are solving for x, all you've got to do is divide both sides by a, and then divide both sides by b to get x by itself.
