How I start a fire is I light the ice cube and wait for it to let the ice cube burn.

Just like a magnifying glass and sunlight. I find it easier to use a water bottle w/ water in it because the ice usually melts by the time you find the right angle.

The drying effect of an ice cube, more specifically dry ice, and metallic sodium could potentially start a fire when use with a plant, say, a leaf. The leaf would need to be bone dry.

Throw an ice cube in pure sodium and it will react violently....flame will be present!

Not a toy question! but you have apply lighter fluid or some-kind of accelerate to it...Dry ice tends to work better...
