Because in America the governements standard of living is unrealistic and they don't care. So everyone gets paid the same starting out and are expect to live on minimum wage. I wish those who made the standards lived by thier own rules.

I am 16 and I work at a McDonalds and get paid $7.25
I live in Minnesota

age discrimination is illegal here in the USA. you have pay based on merit or time with the company not the age of the worker.

I'm not sure what part of the US you worked at but here in Alabama they start out @ $7.00.
