When you heat something you are putting more heat into it taking it through the four states of matter; solid, liquid, gas, and plasma.
Absolute zero is the theoretical point where all molecular motion ceases, it is impossible to reach though and the temperature of space is around four degrees above absolute zero Celsius.

Yes Heat is related to the speed of the molecules, but it is actually the Energy per molecule. For example Hydrogen Molecules at 25C will be traveling faster than Oxygen Molecules at 25C, however the energy per molecule is the same. Energy = 1/2 mass * velocity^2
