I understand that scaring can cause ducts to become clogged....my milk does not squirt it drips out.....my daughter was getting so tired from sucking....I was nursing every hour for two weeks...she cried the whole time and lost over 1lb......I decided to supplement with soy formula and nurse.....it is hard...and pumping did nothing......so is there a way I can make this milk come out and increase my supply???

My friend is currently nursing and she uses fenugreek. It has helped tremendously and it is completely safe. You can get it at any healthfood store and it isn't very expensive. If I had known about it while I was still nursing my son I would have given it a try. Unfortunately I ended up "drying up" when he was 8 months old because I was working part-time during the day. Good luck and I wish the best for you. I know about the bond you feel with your baby while nursing!

Oh dear. I'm so sorry.

Pumping doesn't work at all? All I can say is keep pumping, and maybe the milk ducts with open up better. Give it a week or so.

Also, did you try La Leche League? They have a website, and they may have a group in your area. LLL books were great for reassurance when I was nursing.

IF, if, if, nothing works, please feel reassured that a generation of kids grew up on formula, and managed to become productive, happy citizens. I know you really want to breast feed, and I am very supportive of that. But OTOH, you should not beat yourself up for something your body just can't do. Keep trying, keep looking for answers, but if the solution is just not there, you may have to accept it.

BTW, you can still nurse, as long as your baby is getting the proper nutrition. This can be a very satisfying time, all by itself.

Good luck, and I hope you find what you need!

i had nipple peircings and was able to bf fine. It really depends on your individual piercing. It may not be the problem. Contact your local La leche league for free help also you can try an herb called Fenugreek, google it, it works great for some women trying to increase milk supply. Some people dont squirt milk, i never did, and remember that pumping is not indicative of how much milk the baby is getting. The baby is much more efficient than a pump. It is really common to feel that your breastfed baby isn't getting enough because they eat so often, but gradually they will eat less often. contact LLL and exhaust all efforts if this is something that is important to you so that if it doesn't work out you can be guilt free knowing that you did all that you could.

I would contact a Lactation Consultant because I'm thinking it may have absolutely nothing to do w/ your nipple piercings... unless you have multiple holes... Some people don't have a good milk supply, some don't have one at all and some need help conditioning it. I have been pierced too and my milk leaks from my holes! One of my breasts leaks (almost nonstop) and doesn't spray (has a couple of times though) and my other will spray. I think the "spraying effect" may have something to do with how full you are. Maybe not, though. It could be a number of things... maybe your baby doesn't suck efficiently... maybe you just need some pointers... supplementing may inhibit this more so I would keep nursing even though you're having problems and get in touch w/ someone ASAP. Good luck. I hope it gets better!

Drink alot of water ,try fenugreek and/or blessed thistle they are natural herbs that are supossed to increase your milk supply , also massage your breast frequently , you can try pumping again .. take hot showers and let the water spray directly on your breast ,
I had a clogged milk duct and i bought some thermacare heat wraps for your back and wrapped one around my breast , It easier than using a heating pad because it allowed me to stay mobile .. even if you are supplementing you can try or keep trying to put your baby on the breast it can help .. If anything contact a lactation consultant for get some ideas ..Some of these things may help you , for me i tried them all and my supply was just to low and eventually i had to give up .. i hope you find something that will work .. Good Luck :)

I think that when women and girls get their nipples pierced they don't think about maybe wanting to breastfeed someday. I think they are probably damaged beyond repair. The nipples are designed to work a certain way and piercing them ruins the structure, sorry.
