To take a theology course, do you need to know the religion of Christianity etc.

Or are you taught the religion in the course.

Well, it depends on what type of school you are attending. If you are attending a religiously affiliated school, you will need to know a little about that denomination, so that you are able to understand their teachings and their beliefs.

For instance, a Catholic affiliated school will teach theology classes differently than a Presbyterian school. However, if you are attending a local community college, or a nonreligious affiliated college, it is probably just an overview of religious beliefs.

Check with the department or instructor to see if you need an in depth undersanding of Chrisianity.

In college? No. There are very rarely prerequisates in theology classes in college, and they are only other courses, not actually being part of that religion. I took a course in the religion dept that was on medical ethics - I don't remember there being much religion in it at all.

No, the class is probably an overview, non-offensive to any faith. It'll give an idea what's out there and where it comes from.
