OK

3x+1/5 = 2/7 ; ok lets get rid of the denominator of x by multiplying each side by 5

3x +1 = 10/7 ; of subtract 1 from both

3x = 10/7 -1 ; which is 7/7
3x =3/7
x = 1/7

Lets check to make sure

3(1/7) +1 /5 = 2/7 ??
(10/7)/5 = 2/7 ??
10/7 = 10/7 YES!!

Hope that helps.

(3x+1)/5 = 2/7

- The first step is to multiply both sides by 5:
(5)(3x+1)/5) = (2/7)(5)
which gives you:
3x+ 1 = 10/7

- The next step is to subtract 1 from both sides:
3x + 1 - 1 = (10/7) - 1
which gives you:
3x = 3/7

- the last step is to solve for x by dividing each side by 3:
3x/3 = (3/7)/3
which gives you:
x = 1/7

(3x+1)/5 = 2/7
7(3x+1) = 10
21x + 7 = 10

the equation may be rewritten as:
(3/5)x +(1/5) = (2/7)

first let's move the (1/5) over with (2/7) by subtraction:
(2/7) - (1/5) can be rewritten as:
(10/35) - (7/35) = (3/35)

so:
(3/5)x = (3/35)

now multiply either side by (5/3) to get x alone:
x = (1/7)
