I would have to go with Yes--all great players. And some of Zappa's bands were great, too. To all the people who said the Beatles, you must be kidding. Love the Beatles, but John Lennon was NOT a great guitar player, and Ringo was NOT a great drummer.

Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters plays at least 10 different musical instruments. (Though not all at once, now that would be something to see!)
Mike Oldfield ~ all musical instruments on the Tubular Bells album
David Gilmour (had to add him) has Pilots liscence ~ his vocals & guitar work are so brilliant.
Captain Beefheart is very unusually talented in music & the art world.
Frank Zappa.
Eric Clapton ~ Technically gifted on the guitar
Ronnie Woods~ Rolling Stones. he's a very talented painter.
Jimi Hendrix (was)...
(As Was) Jim Morrison from the doors
Michael Moorcock wrote lyrics for band Hawkwind & wrote many best selling sci/fi/fantasy & non fiction works.
Stephen King & the Rock Bottom Remainders (a band featuring Stephen King)
Mick Jagger (along with musical talent) is supposedly as talented with business ventures as Bill Gates.
Doc Neeson from The Angels (Aussie 70's punk band) has a Doctorate in Mathematics/Science.
Ciao!

Well, first, I'd definitely agree with Conie about Muse (other than the Starlight comment, that's a great song, but then, all their songs are amazing!). You've got Dom Howard, who's a really great, and probably underrated drummer, and Chris Wolstenholme, who does a generally great job on guitar and bass, but in particular, Matt Bellamy, who is unquestionably one of the most talented musicians of recent times. Not only can he play guitar and piano like a virtuoso, he's also got a voice that could melt butter. The fact that they have yet to release a bad song (in my opinion at least) only seals the deal. I've been a fan of theirs for the last six or seven years, and with each year I find myself loving them more and more, which is extremely rare for me.
I'd also go with the members of the Jimi Hendrix experience, and not just Jimi Hendrix himself.
And a more recent band, The Polyphonic Spree. Frontman Tim Delaughter is, as far as I'm concerned, one of the most talented and creative musicians out there today, and in forming the band, he basically just surrounded himself with about twenty (the number fluctuates) really talented people.
Sorry for rambling :)
Edit:
Good to know! I love a good ramble.

As long as the other members of the band have enough talent to make up for the other guy. Like the White Stripes. Jack White is very gifted and Meg White is possibly the worst drummer of all time. But the White Stripes are still good, IMO.

I agree with Rush.
Despite the fact that the vocals in that band get on my nerves, i can't take anything away from them in terms of instrument playing because it's just fantastic...
The vocals are the only thing stopping me from being a huge fan, hopefully i'll get over that one day and appreciate them properly.
"Old" Guns N' Roses [yes, they're my favourite band, but that's not why they're on this list].
Slash and Izzy are amazing guitarists, Duff is a talented bass player, and Matt Sorum's drum skills are.. wow. [I don't really care for Steve Adler, he's OK, and was part of the best GNR album, but Sorum is far more skilled].
Axl's voice is something that's debated now and again, but i like his voice, and think that's his talent. He's also great at piano.
Tool - I really don't listen to that band as much as i should. That band is made up of a bunch of /very/ talented fellows. Particularly Adam Jones [guitarist]
Iron Maiden
Pink Floyd
Soundgarden

I must agree with most of you, Almost all members that played in prog-rock/metal bands (dream theatre, tool, floyd, rush etc.) are hugely talented, that's why the played prog rock in the first place, but I must add one more band that is not prog.
Japan, allthough I'm not that fond of their music, I think they were lightyears ahead of their time. All of them have made great collaborations, and are still active nowadays.
David Sylvian (collaborations with Sakamoto & Fripp), Mick Karn (Dali's Car amongst others), Steve Jansen (No-man amongst others) and of course Richard Barbieri (Porcupine Tree and No-man amongst others).
Oh and don't forget Porcupine Tree, especially Steven Wilson is definetly a genius.
