i personally think, as well as many people i know, that it SHOULD be legalized throughout the US. or, most of the states, anyway.

I think marriage is for a man and a woman as well, but I also think that marriage means divorce shouldn't be an option, if you are going to play by the rules.

However, I believe that EVERYONE is entitled to legal benefits regardless of the sex of their partner. I don't see how people can be so ridiculous about love. And since marriage is the only thing the United States has that does this, 100%, then, damn it, I want to marry my girlfriend.

Well, lets first look at the folks that are against it. Many heteros are saying that marriage is for a man and a woman. These are the same people that are responsible for the fact that over 50% of all marriages end in divorce. They obviously can't do it right themselves. (Collectively) Yet they want to regulate who gets to do it. Then you have the Jesus Police... If same sex marriages are against their religious beliefs, then don't let it happen in the church... The last time I took a US history class, they thought us about the separation of church and state!

Before I go on and on... I'll just say that if a gay/lesbian couple wants to get married, knock your self out! You can't screw it up any worse that the rest of the population has!!

The only reason homosexuality is shunned is because of homophobic religious people. Discrimination is all it is...lowering people because of what they are. No better than discrimination against a race which once upon a time, people of color were looked down upon and treated like a lower human being. People are people; and yes as people we are all entitled to our options.
When I was 15 years old and I figured out the meaning of life a few days after I gave up on god and religion as a whole. To live is that meaning, and to live happily. I am a bisexual young woman, I fell in love with my best friend when I turned 17. I want to marry her one day. And I will go to any lengths to see her happy.
The only thing different about our relationship vs. a man and a woman is body parts. Is same sex, sex the issue? Are people just disgusted by thinking about a man and another man together? Love is love, god...may or may not be there...We are alive and we are not going anywhere...as human beings please...let us live...happily...

i don't the state has the right to regulate any marriage. civil unions sure but marraige is not something the state can control. i think all people should be able to obtain civil unions from the state. honestly i think 3 4 or how ever many people should be able to apply for one together. it all financial anyways. I love how cpnservatives today argue that they are preserving marriage even though marrying for love a is a fairly new notion. also if we want the good ol' marriage doesn't that include a submissive spouse with limmitted and lesser rights?

It's not up to you or I or the government to whom someone should marry. Judgement day is what counts. Whomever you love or why you love them is none of my business! You should have the same rights as everyone else and face your judgement be it good or bad on judgement day. That should not be for the government to decide. It is just awful that personal beliefs are so involved with decisions. It isn't about the party involved at all. I bet if those presidents had someone in their family who was gay/lesbian, they would feel differently

why should the government tell me who i can and can not marry? if i accept who i am and what i do then i should be able to marry whoever the hell i want to. this is an absurd topic and can get very ugly quick. however i am all for the same sex marriages. its wrong not to be for it. it should be legalized and recognized. i think reality tv needs to come out with gay couples and their love for one another. people would watch that **** and then maybe some people could realize that its ok to be gay and be married! :)

it is up to the indivisual states, however the constitution of the united states always over rides the state constitution. I would love it if gay marriage were legalized im my state, but in reality you would have to go to another country that would allow it. and even then you would only be married in that other country and not in the u.s., and you would probably have to apply for both partners to have a duel citizenships, and maby name changes if both partners want that. how ever you can do that in 2 ways, 1 one partner leagally changes thier name, 2 you have to do it in both countries.

No problem with me, no ones business, and churches and politicians need to stay the hell out of it. Live and let live. I would imagine that within say another 25 or so years it will be no big deal to any REASONABLE, THOUGHTFUL person, and will probably be legalized in most of the US.

It's a moot issue for me personally since Canada has legalized gay marriage now for a few years.

I figure love is love and if gay people are committed to one another why shouldn't they be allowed to marry.

It's not like the heterosexuals have done such a perfect job on marriage.

And no I'm not gay.
