In general I am against war. But I do support the war against terrorism, and the war in Iraq. Although I think we should have had a better plan for once we got Saddam Hussein out. Now we are stuck in a civil war that is going to eat up our troops and supplies that will be needed in other areas. We need to find some reasonable exit plan, and MAKE the new Iraqi government do their job.

It depends on why the war is being fought. If we had baked muffins instead of going to war with England, then we would all be sipping tea and bowing to the Queen of England. Some wars are necessary to protect our way of life. Without wars you would not have the freedom of speech to post such a question.
And I think if your country is at war, you should support your men and women no matter what.

I am not ready to put this opinion forward for peer review because I haven’t really thought much about the reason for so many wars throughout history. Having said that:
War is almost certainly the results of the faulty decision making of a multitude of poorly educated, inadequate males who, for some reason known only to the Greek Oracles , find themselves in charge of something.
War, in my view, is one of the major identifying characteristic of human failure. It is, of course, usually completely unnecessary and at the same time, engaged in with the best of intentions.
Mankind has some evolving yet, to do. We are in desperate need of using our neocortex more and indulging in our ego driven ignorance much less. I suppose there is no reason to discuss this with Dubya, Idi Amin, various Shi’ia and a multitude of “War Lords” destroying Africa, as the concept requires the ability to conduct abstract reasoning.

I'm sorry, and I know I'm going to get flamed for this, but everyone here is a bunch of scaredy cats (expletive).
War IS necessary. Look at our world. In order to keep rival nations in check and prevent one person's way of thinking from affecting everyone else, we must have war. People are just too stupid to realize that we NEED military and weapons to keep us free. Don't forget World War II.... if we didn't fight, we'd be in some kind of non-colored/jew new world order.
If we don't fight the Muslim religion from being forced onto our lifestyles, our country will be changed forever, and I guarantee it's not for the better.
WE NEED WAR!
EDIT: Someone said we should avoid conflict whenever possible. Sorry, but we must always fight for what we want. We can't just roll over peacefully and let someone else dictate our lives.

I am against war and don't like the significance of "fighting" in other folks' wars. The United States is the "policeman" of the world. I don't get it. President Bush refused to sign the Child Care Bill. His excuse was that the "health program" should be privatized. Yet, he gets the American Congress to levy up "billions of dollars" for whatever the countries we "fight" require. If they wanted a "Dairy Queen," then they would have it because they already have the "money" in their "little and/or multi-sized hands." I wish all of us well on God's plenteous globe. Peace, Love and God Bless.

I understand that sometimes war is used to protect your country, but I believe that violence is the wrong way to make peace. Wars show how savage and stupid most people are in the world, thinking that they should just shoot each other to solve their problems.
But at the same time, I'm amazed at the people who are willing to risk their lives in order to protect their country.
