Scarf. By using it as a lasso to catch various bit of slower moving debris then using it as a slingshot to fling the same debris forward he was able to slow down to the point where he could exit the sidewall of the wormhole safely and return to normal space. Of course, how he returned to the safety of his TARDIS is a whole other story, and the subject of a completely different question.
