Most UPS's have a different charge rate. Like say 200mA(milliamp) which a lot of 24V UPS's I see are charged at, most I have seen without having them connected to your PC can usually take up to 8 hours to charge. Give or take an hour or so. All depends on how drained the battery was when purchased or left sitting around.
I recommend charging before connecting to your PC, it might take as long as 2 days to charge if connected to your PC though. A slow charge is better for the battery than a fast charge, a fast charge can actually heat the battery up and cause them to explode. Try checking the manufacture of the UPS'S website to see if they give an indication of charge time and also for any software upgrades. A good well known name brand company will have these things on the website.

A hydrometer is the well-liked gadget. It measures the particular gravity of the electrolyte. a very charged cellular might have a particular gravity of abt. a million.265 (X that of water). It incorporates a graduated flow in a sparkling tube, with a rubber bulb on suitable and a rubber tube on the backside. each and each cellular is opened, the hydrometer bulb is squeezed and the tube immersed interior the battery's electrolyte. The bulb is released, and electrolyte flows up into the sparkling cylinder, and the flow rises. the particular gravity is study from the floor of the electrolyte interior the tube, on the dimensions of the flow. The electrolyte is then placed decrease back into the cellular. each and each cellular is checked in this type, whilst you're searching for a foul cellular. yet i think of you fairly do no longer decide for this, you elect for a voltmeter. A voltmeter will point out the final battery voltage, and likewise point out charging. a very charged 12V battery will study 12.6 volts after settling down a mutually as for the reason that recharging. it won't supply any indication of a foul cellular different than a decrease voltage, for the reason that it fairly is the voltage for the period of all 6 cells of the battery. Batteries of previous used to have exterior connectors between cells, guy or woman ones must be examined. of direction, you ought to in basic terms initiate the engine. If it starts off, the battery has adequate cost. If it won't turn over, it must be flat. Or undesirable. Or something else must be incorrect.

Amps is everything. a 24 amp battery takes 4 hours to charge with a 6 amp charger (6 X 4 = 24). Most batteries never go down to 0 (zero) so charge times are usually less.
