The resistance isn't an identical. do some calculations. The resistance is calculated so as that when you be conscious the right voltage, the capability dissipated interior the filament (from P = E²/R) is sufficient to make it glow white. For an occasion, a a hundred and twenty volt 60 watt bulb has a cutting-edge of a million/2 amp and a resistance of 240 ohms. A 12 volt 60 watt bulb has a cutting-edge of 5 amp and a resistance of two.4 ohms. connect a hundred and twenty volts to the 12 volt bulb, and you get a cutting-edge of a hundred and twenty/2.4 = 50 amps and a capability of 6000 watts, it relatively is why it burns out right this moment. .
