k, so im goin to this ettiquette class (dont laugh too hard) on sun and we're gonna learn how to dance the foxtrot. im a dancer and everything, but ive never done this kind b4. can someone explain to me how it works and what the steps are and all that? i just wanna get a heads-up b4 i go.
o, and btw, i also wanna kno cuz my crush is gonna b there and id rather not look like an idiot in front of him! :-D

Foxtrot is a couple dance, as you probably already know. It is danced to music like "New York, New York". Don't worry, they will teach you all the steps, as well as how to assume the dance hold and how to move. If you really wish to see the steps, you can visit http://www.ballroomdancers.com and see the demonstration videos. Or you can go on youtube and search "learn foxtrot".

I love to Two Step and I think that the Quick Step and the Fox Trot have basically the same steps with different variations.
My advice is, in this short time, to learn the basic steps which is slow, slow, quick quick. That is 4 steps done to three beats. I step forward = 1 beat, 2nd step forward = 1 beat and then do two steps forward = 1 beat.
You have to practice to get used to it and what I did was instead of walking around the house or the yard I stepped it, slow slow quick quick slow slow quick quick slow slow, until I could do it in my sleep. If the basic steps come easily the dance is just a routine doing these basic steps all the way.
I'm so glad people are learning to dance in each others arms again. It's so much more romantic.

The fox trot is left forward, right forward, left to left side quick with the right to follow just as quick for the guy. This is opposite for the woman. This is the basic step sequence. There are others. Check online. There are many places that will explain better than I can.

Its fun. And you'll be ok cuz i don't dance and the foxtrot was easy to learn. so don't stress about it.
