I use d-CON mouse pellets. They also make bigger pellets for rats. You set a box out in the garage and when the mice eat it they die. It works really good. You can buy it at any hardware store, like Lowes or Ace Hardware. The nice thing is that when they eat the pellets, they need water, so they run back outside looking for water and you don't have to deal with the dead bodies!

get a 5 gallon bucket, put some peanut butter in it, smear it around so that the smell it heavy, put a piece of wood as a ramp on the outside of the bucket and put some peanut butter on the top of the ramp, smear it in so they cant eat it. Check the bucket in the morning, the mice will jump into the bucket to get the PB but cant get out. The take them over to your neighbors house and let em out, he he he. I cleaned out my garage of mice in a week or so.

Get a rat snake. Harmless to humans but deadly to mice and rats.

D-Con works well. The critters will chow down on the pellets, then they'll search for water. They also have sticky strips out now that will stop the critters in their tracks.
