i can not decide which of these directx 10 graphics cards to get from these two? i can buy either one for the same price, and i want to get one of these two (i know there is better cards out there but it has to be one of these for now!

1st choice:
Evga 8600 GTS, 512MB, GDDR3,128bit, Core clock 675mhz,
memroy clock 2000mhz,

2nd choice:
PNY 8800 GTS, 320mb, GDDR3, 320bit, Core clock 500mhz,
Memory clock 1600mhz,

the only difference i see is that the 8800 gts has 320bit ans lower mhz on everything eles? does it look like the 8600 gts is a better card for new games?

The 8800GTS is far far superior. This is why you should consult benchmarks rather that just looking at specs. Yes the memory clock is faster on the 8600, but the speed of the memory is determined by bitrate and clock speed combined, and because of that 320 to 128 advantage, the 8800 is far superior. As for core clock, this also tells you nothing unless you look at how many stream processors there are, in which the 8800 leads 96 to 32. Hence, the 8800 is far better. The benchmarks provided will also show that.

I'm sure that with todays games, and future games, It'll be hard to even run the game, let alone have the game run with good graphics. the 8800 looks more suitable for todays games but it'll be outdated soon anyways.

Go for the Nvidia one, it has a higher clock speed and memory clock. Well i suggested 1 of the above and told you why it's better

Big difference in architecture. GPU of 8800GTS has 96 stream processors. 8600GTS only has 32 stream processors. Even if you extremely overclock the 8600GTS, it will never get close to a stock 8800GTS.

Grab the 8800GTS if you could get it at or close to 8600GTS price.
