One night a few years ago, me and my brother and cousin and stepbrother, we were all outside in the backyard at night. Im guessing it was about 11 PM or so. And we're just sittin there and theres this big, tall grain-processing building. And we just see this seemingly small red light fly from the sky and go behind that building. I know that it wasnt an airplane because 1) i know what plane lights look like and 2) it flew down at an angle that'd be unusual for a plane and 3) we didnt hear any airplane and it was a quiet night. You'd know if it was a plane, on a quiet night, we would've heard it. It was just a single red light. It went behind the building and we didnt see it come back out.

What do you mean by you "know what plane lights look like"? You are an aerospace engineer or a pilot, maybe? And how does this light seemed different from an airplane light? (Let me guess, it was moving, from your point of view, from the right to the left?) And what is an "unusual" angle for an airplane to fly?
It was 11 PM, so it was night, how do you know how far it was? It could have been a fast plane far away (which would have made the light appear small, by definition). It could have been a sailplane. It could have been so many things.
It was an unidentified flying object, which does NOT mean an alien ship from another planet.

How nice it is that you come up with this question about events that took place "a few years ago", at a date that you do not specify. How easy it is for anyone to check what it could have been...

If aliens were coming here, they either would do it openly, or do it secretly. If the former, we'd know about them. If the later, they would at least have TURNED THEIR LIGHTS OFF.

That sounds like a meteorite to me.if is was travelling in a straight line with constantly increasing speed. If it braked in between for a second or 2, circled and blinked at you, Oh God Save You. You are in the middle of an alien abduction plan!
meteorites or shooting stars are celestal rocks or debris (or even falling satellites :-)) pulled in by earth's gravity that burn up due to the earth's atmospehere. Most of them ( over 90%) never touch the ground.. they burn up half way thro the atmosphere.
For ages meteroites have been the centre of myths and legends and beliefs and luck. it is a popular belief that if you make a wish when u see a shooting star , it will come true. Did u now?

This was probably a meteor (or "shooting star"). Not a "meteorite" as one answer said: a meteorite is a meteor that actually lands on the ground; 99.9% of meteors burn up before they get anywhere near the ground. Meteors are very common; I see them every night I'm out under the stars for any time. Red coloured ones are rarer, but still possible.

It could have been a shooting star, or even the remnants of a shooting star actually hitting ground near you.

Definitely was a UFO.

1. You saw it
2. It was 'flying' (in some sense) thru the air
3. You couldn't identify it.

Yup. That was a genuine UFO. (But please take careful note that I did **NOT** say 'alien spaceship' ☺)

Maybe it was a helicopter?

And since (to you) it's unidentified, it would indeed be a UFO. ^_~
