Not ALL people are cowards, and not ALL protest the wars...especially if there is a wise enough reason to go to war. Would you want to be protected from the terrorists that exist in the Middle East, Afghanistan, in the past it was in Vietnam. Men fighting in combat for their country and her people have begun in the Middle Ages...it is nothing new. Most people support the war because in a nutshell, we know that we are being protected.

Keep in mind that the same freedoms you claim to represent will allow dissenting viewpoints to be FREELY opined. Ask yourself this: Which is more brave, the man who dons the suit of soldier for his country out of some sense of "duty" and blindly follows orders, or the man who realizes the idiocy of the fight and protests it at the risk of being shot, arrested, or even worse. It takes much more strength to stand for what you believe, no matter how unpopular it may be.

Try to remember 6 years and a few weeks ago right after te 9/11 attacks. The whole world had our backs in the effort to bring to justice the perpetrators of these heinous acts. When "King George" decided to invade Iraq, te world turned their collective backs, save a few lackeys that were strong armed into the fight. Here we are, all this time later and the true guilty party is still free.

Do I believe that Saddam needed to be dealt with? YES! But ti just seems way too much like a wag the dog tactic to take the focus away from the fact that we can't seem to find a seven foot tall Arab attached to his luggage.

The men who are fighting the war in Iraq & Afghanistan are in an all volunteer military. We as citizens of this country can protest these wars all we wish & it is not treason nor are we cowards! We do not like to see our youth wasted on a war against countries that have done nothing to us, that might last for years & the only ones that want it to continue are the war profiteers! Sorry you don't get it!

You can be against a war on moral, religious or cultural grounds and I have known people who are/were strongly against the Second Indochina War (Vietnam War) but went into combat in other aspects. There were many newsmen who were against the war, and many saw more combat than the ordinary soldier, not only in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand but in other conflicts. THEY are not cowards.

Also, it is not cowardly to refuse "an illegal order". In fact the Nuremburg trials following WW-2 established that fact. Many Americans fled to Canada and elsewhere during the Vietnam War because the US government did not allow for the "Nuremburg Defence". Similarly here in Australia, some went to jail whilst a few fled overseas.

You must remember that the Second Indochina War was an illegal war under international law, and so is the war in Iraq, but not in Afghanistan (that is legal under international law as was Gulf War-1).

Men fight wars because their leaders tell them to.

Somehow I think you may have missed something very important though - the Leader may not be right. You ahve also missed something called free speech. You have also missed something kalled "thou shalt not kill" (unless you can find a qualification that says "unless the Leader tells you to").

Lets see - your reasoning was used by both Hitler & Stalin - good Leader role models - would you be joining the Gestapo or the NKVD?

Are you aware Two Cowards sent our Moms Dads, Brothers, Sisters and Children to war?

Dick Cheney did not serve one day in the Armed Forces. He Dodged the Draft by requesting and being able to pay for deferments until he was too old to be drafted.

'W' bought his way into TNG and was alleged AWOL.

Me? I did Volunteer, they did not take me due to physical issues..

Does this mean you feel our President and Vice President should be shot? Did Cheney commit Treason by dodging the Draft?
