We do not have squirrels in Australia. We have many different species of possum which are marsupials. These include many glider possums such as the sugar glider, the feathertail glider and the dusky glider.

Other marsupials include kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, numbats, koalas, quolls and tasmanian devils.

There are some native placental mammals but these are many different species of rats and mice, bats and marine mammals such as seals, sealions, furseals, dugongs and cetaceans.

There are many introduced placental mammals which have gone feral. These include brown and black rats, house mice, horses, donkeys, pigs, goats, camels, rabbits, deer, hares, foxes, cats, dogs, sheep, buffalo and cattle. The dingo is not native to Australia but was intoduced by humans about 6000 years ago. It started as a domestic dog but quickly became a wild dog.

Skimming this lengthy article will reveal that there are flying squirrels there for instance. Squirrels are considered a rodent. The article states rodents got there around 5-10 million years ago although it does not say how, which would be interesting. There are a large number of introduced species. For example, the dingo. Also domestic animals for livestock. They become what is called feral, where they were once domestic and returned to the wild. Did not see deer in the article. Chipmunks are closely related to squirrels from the standpoint of rodents at least. Think the article mentions some possums and other similar animals.

Mostly marsupials such as kangaroos, Tasmanian devils, and koalas as were mentioned. And yes, many venomous snakes, the world's most venomous land snakes. The article even goes so far as to tell you of the invertebrate and other animal life there. Saltwater crocodlies, monitor lizards, and so on.

If you scroll down at this second link you can look at the pictures of a sampling of some of the animals. Much easier than reading.

Sorry, no squirrels in Australia. Misread the article previously or misinterpreted it. This third link says no. The fourth link if you scroll down to Columbia Encyclopedia, third down, it will also say no squirrels in Australia.

To quote them: "squirrel, name for small or medium-sized rodents of the family Sciuridae, found throughout the world except in Australia, Madagascar, and the polar regions..."

I believe that their koalas, dingos and kangaroos are famous. Also the deer. But sometimes i think it's a little dry there, so animals that can survive dry weather must be there somewhere.

Yes squirrels are in Australia, they were introduced about 100 years ago. They have deer as well, I know because I drove by some in South Australia.
