My divorce Attorney did nothing for me but charge me an outragious bill, when I first went for counciltation I was told that my attorney would be $2,500 and now it is up to $5,000 and they just keep sending me things of what they are doing in the office and I have no idea what is going on and I don't seen no evidence of what they are doing other than charging me money, this is very unfair and seems like a racatair. I really appreciate any ones help.

P.S can anyone help me get intouch with Gloria Aldridge Maybe she can look at my bill.

Your attorney has an ethical duty to keep you informed regarding what is going on in your case. A simple divorce that is uncontested may cost as little as $2,500, but if anything makes it more complicated the bill will quickly go up. Your attorney likely charged you an initial $2,500 retainer and your agreement with him/her likely listed the hourly rates to which you likely agreed. If your attorney really is taking advantage of you the nastiest thing you can do is make a complaint to the state bar, but before you do this you need to call and ask for an explanation of your bill and ask for a straight answer regarding how much it will cost to complete the divorce. If you have to change lawyers now you will only have to pay another retainer.

Gloria Allred might look at your case if you are a celebrity of if you have about $150,000.00 lying around for a retainer.

Divorce lawyers are the lowest of the low. They won't come to any settlement until you can't pay any more money and are on the verge of bankrupcy, then by some miracle they'll come up with a settltment. Those suckers will bleed you dry all the time telling you it's the other side that's holding things up. They're all in on it. They prey on people when they're the most vulnerable and depressed.
This was happening to my ex and I so we fired our lawyers and made our own agreement between us. It's worked out pretty well. We're divorced and we're not broke.

You should have a fee agreement that spells out what your agreement is. They usually will tell you a cost of a divorce, but that is more like a down payment. You should get monthly statements that have all of the charges on there. I have never known of a divorce attorney who doesn't take advantage of their clients. It's all about money...
And forget about Gloria, she's another one of the same.

You know why divorces are expensive don't you?

Because they are worth it.

Your fee should have been discussed up front. You have the right to walk into the office and request to see exactly what they are charging you for. If they refuse, then report the attorney to the state bar.

This type of thing is normal for lawyers. Unless you have a good understanding of the law, what lawyers do in their offices wouldn't make any sense to you. You can ask him for a copy of all documents he has prepared for your case if you want.
