Hello! I am trying to figure out where to move in order to get a good job and be able to afford our own place. I am married, 31 yrs old and had experience as admin and also worked as a waitress. My husband owns a painting co. and can work in construction/painting. We were thinking about moving to Las Vegas, does anyone know how the property taxes are, how is the job market at the moment? Other places would be considered as well, but we prefer warmer climate.

Lol, I like how no one remotely answered your question. I've been researching Vegas for a year because I also want to move there.

Property taxes vary based on the size of the property, but they're low in Vegas, overall. Stick to Northwest LV. You need to qualify for about a $200,000 loan to live in that area for a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom condo. The job outlook is great, especially for real estate. That includes contractors like your husband.

Renting is tenant friendly. Low deposit rates to none. $800/mo will get you a luxury 1 bedroom. Short term leases are not a problem.

To work in the food services industry, you need a few licenses. They cost about $150-$300, and take a few weeks to get from what I understand.

Stay away from South Vegas. Las Vegas, overall, has very high theft rate, and fraud.

I'd say you'll need $10,000 to be safe to move if you don't have jobs, yet. This $10,000 is after moving expenses.

Williamsburg Va! Your husband will certainly find work there. Building is going crazy! North easterners are moving down in great numbers. Malls and many other community services are being built. The locals are a bit upset by this. However the government has kept the lid on it and is keeping conservation in mind as the building goes on. Property taxes are lower than the Northeast also. Food is a bit lower and shopping for apparel is a lot lower at certain stores. The housing market is good for middle income. High end real estate has slowed only a bit . Keep in mind it's a great place for raising a family. Super educational.

Don't move to sin city. This not a good place to raise a family, and it is expensive.
