I know that sometimes little boys develop an Oedipus complex and little girls have...theirs, I forgot the name of it, but do little gay children develop the opposite complex? IE, would a young girl who will later be interested in other girls have an Oedipus complex and want her mother's affection the same way a boy might?

It's "Electra Complex" that girls have.

This has been up a long time with no answers. It now has 2 stars (one of them mine); so I hope someone who knows answers.

If you don't get an answer, there's a Gay, Bi, etc. category on this site (it might be in Society and Culture -- if not, it's under some top-level category); you might post it there, as the gays there can tell you their experiences; and likely experts in, uh, gayness hang out there.

I would GUESS yes, as most gays I've known say they knew they were gay at young ages.

I doubt the mother will be flattered, her son is being overly domineering and it's probably ruining her life. She needs to lay some ground rules to make him realise that she has an identity outside of being his mother. Whilst I'm sure she loves her son she should not allow him to behave in this manner. If I were her I'd put some distance between us and not keep him so well informed of how I want to live my personal life.
