Try cold booting your computer (power down & up).
If it will still not eject from the my computer shortcut, there is either something wrong with the drive door or the disk is stuck inside. Either way, your going to have to take a mechanics attempt at opening it if you don't want to bring it into a shop. AKA, get the screw driver.

If you look on the front of the drive you will see a little hole just below the CD tray. All you have to do is insert a straightened out paper clip in that hole and then push straight in and it will open the tray about 1/4 of an inch. All you have to do is pull the tray straight out and close it again the same way.

Hope this helps.

Assuming you're running Windows (almost any version) there should be an icon on you desktop titled My Computer.

Double-click on it, and on the drive inquestion, right-click & then click Eject.

Some drives may also be opened in a decidedly more low-tech method. Look on the front of your drive and see if there's a hole roughly the size of a pin. If there is, find a small paper clip (or similar object) and GENTLY and insert it until the drive tray opens up.

Get a paper clip and straightened it out and stick it in the little hole on the first of the drive. This is the called the emergency eject button. Make sure you give it a little pressure.

I think it's broken pretty bad. You probably have to get a new one. DVD drives aren't too expensive, though. What you could do as a last resort is take it apart and see if anything looks broken, such as a gear or a little rubber band looking thing.

All otehr posters are somehow right. If you cant open even after using the paperclip method, there are no more ways of opening it. Buy a new dvd drive

On each and every discpersistent, there is an emergency eject hollow. that's the size of a paper clip (paperclip ought to be straightend out). You insert the paperclip into the eject hollow and there ya flow. The laptop ought to be off first.
