To me, God is Everything. God is you, I, the air we breathe, the flowers, those stinky socks waiting to be washed, the sun, the ocean, the keyboard I'm using to type these words, and so on and so on.

So, why I don't believe in God the way you do, I believe in Everything being a greater thing.

"how do they think any of this was created?? science and nature couldnt do this all by themselves..."

Well, guess what, nature IS God. Science didn't create a thing, science is the study of Nature. Bingo. Science studies God. So, whats' your problem with Science?

Religion and Science are not two different things, just like Christianity and Mormon are not. Yes, they have different "morals", but that came from the people that created the rules. But they all have the same message: There is a greater thing. Science does too, and that's why there is research to understand those things we can't yet grasp.

Religion is what men came up with because they did not understand things.

And that's fine!!

My God, your God, his God. All the same. Just seen different.

People need to focus on living here and now, and making things better for everyone, rather than accusing everyone, thinking that everyone is going to hell.

I'm going to use Christianity as an example, but I am not attacking anyone:

Jesus came to save us. If you were a good person, you wouldn't need salvation. So, just be a good person, and shut the fork up.
Treat everyone with respect, learn how they like to be treated. Treat EVERYTHING with respect, and Mother Nature will be happy. We, everything, is God.

And no, I'm not Pagan. I never found any word to label, and I've tried hard.

I respect your views, so respect mine. Just treat everyone with respect, and we will all be fine.

But if you look at history, look at all the things the Vatican hides. Killed scientists because they didn't want people to take people away from Christianity. Killed. How am I supposed to trust people like that, and believe their God? Hypocrite.

Well said, krennao, I agree with you in ALL your points!!

I haven't seen anyone "religious" post yet, so I guess they don't have anything to counter my argument with ... LOL *cough*

wheeliebin, I'm not preaching. You're free to believe whatever you want. I'm just asking for your opinion, based on what you have said, so we can all learn more and make our own decisions.

"based on what you have said"

Sorry, it should read "based on what I have said [on this question]"

So basically, I want to know what you think based on what I wrote. What can you point out as being un-reasonable, un-logical, anything. Bring it on.

2007-10-19 14:17:04 · update #5

And I'm not worshiping anything haha. I just understand that we are here, and have to make the best of it, for ourselves and everyone else. What could be better than that?

""God" is generally perceived as super-natural, either being it's creator or at least being immune to natural law, depending on the religion. A being that does not exist outside of natural law is not a God."

I never said nature wasn't great. Just because you don't see it, it doesn't mean it's not there. I forgot to mention -- I think God is what keep us all together, interconnected. The things we don't understand yet. The things in nature we can't see.

Nice rant. I agree with much of it. However, you're looking for criticism, so I'll do my best to offer some. Lol.

this does not constitute a religious belief. Science is not a religion as it relies and empirical evidence. Religion has never relied on empirical evidence. Most religions aren't even logical, much less irrefutable. lol.

Science does not have different morals. Science has no morals whatsoever. In such a system, the self would have to determine morality.

Please, offer evidence to support your claim that religions were created by man. Keep in mind, some religions don't rely on outlandish myths to make sense. It's hard to say that about every single of them. some of Buddhism is almost logic based. And the concept of "no self" seems to be validated by various experiments regarding memory recall. Can you be sure? The man called it thousands of years before science got it.
(note: not a buddhist. just trying to plant the seed of doubt. lol)

the christian rant. are christians today responsible for the crimes of christians in the past? That's christian God logic! (holding grudges against families for generations)

The key thing: There is a different between study and worship.

Since you asked for criticism of your statement -

Your begging the question. You redefine "God" as "nature", then argue God is everywhere because nature is everywhere. But "God" isn't nature, so your core point is ill conceived.

"God" is generally perceived as super-natural, either being it's creator or at least being immune to natural law, depending on the religion. A being that does not exist outside of natural law is not a God.

That being said, science is an attempt to understand nature. Since God is a being that is outside of natural law, science does not study God. It may only (possibly) study the effects that God has on nature. Religion, on the other hand, does attempt to understand its God(s). Therefore, science and religion are different things.

People came up with science because they want to understand nature. People came up with religion because they want to understand God.

And yes, nature can do it by itself. Just as your Christmas light cord ends up in a tangled knot all by itself, the knots of life were created when the string of natural forces tangled upon itself.

As far as the rest of your "question", I seriously can't understand or follow what your talking about. Get some sleep.

Okay how does this sound, I respect your beliefs and enjoy. but stop preaching ,

if I wanted to hear it I would attend church, just because you make a post about it your not going to convince anyone..

Come on Mormons? The religion was made so a guy could have sex with more then one woman.. try again.

No, religion is a way for the government of 1000 years of ago can control people like you.. Good luck with that by the way..

So if you really want to preach, try this write a book and get it published, and see who really cares about what your talking about.

With that being said want to know how many people bought my book?

You are actually preaching the same creed of religion as the red Indians of America understood it. They worshipped nature in all it's glory because they could see it working miracles in front of their eye's! And for primitive people, that is good logic! Agreed? But having said that, I find that most religion's were practised to keep control of the masses, as in the Catholic and Protestant era of the middle ages. A lot of their Popes and Cardinals were either corrupt or lustful behind the scenes. The outrage of the holy Inquisition comes to mind as a complete corruption of power in the most insidious form! So I think you are right in your logic that God is not in man's image as we are led to believe, but in a far far greater form beyond our imagination. Have a great day.

Independent thought is not an easy concept to come by, and when it is presented, it is often presented in conflict in its negative usage 'you are not an independent thinker'. My understanding is, the Will is positive, the Judgment is negative. Positive and negative are properties in different organs in the human psyche and the psyche is an organism. This organisms unity in self is its self a changing thing. It is not abnormal to assume the same for the totality that is this existence, and that is the assumption I hypothesize you have created, so we are not in disagreement.

LOL! You're like the proverbial "Guy with schizophrenia at the bus stop or train station" who has one large Run-On conversation with himself.

I've read your question 5 times and still can't seem to figure out what your point is.

Well explained and i respect the thoughts you have. Each person has its own reasons to believe on something or not. Individual differences as you would say. It is actually the Forethought of man why we have science and religion.

Thanks for asking. Have a great day!
