I don't think it means no problems or no conflict.
It means inner stilness which you know/hear/feel in the midst of chaos. Chaos can be content that you experience in the physical world. Or it can be content of your mind, crazy thoughts and judgments. That inner peace lies underneath it all.
Anyone who is interested in this stuff check out Eckhart Tolle's book - The Power of Now. I'm not religious at all but I still learned a ton from it.

I think of the dead, only the dead have peace. I know that's so morbid but is so true. It is futile in this day and age to even think that it is a possibility. Perhaps for future generations there will be peace but not in ours.

Peace is the end result of forgiveness and resolution. That's what I think when it's said to me, or when I see the symbol. I like hearing it.

when we say peace to something or someone..we hope we can convey the message to their brain and things will turn out right...
when there is peace, we feel bliss and happiness within.....
