Sometimes i've heard that installing a new soundcard disables the onboard sound automatically. But is it sometimes possible to leave the onboard audio along with the soundcard?

Yes it's possible, and can be done but! without two sets of speakers you could only 'hear' one sound card.

You have to disable onboard sound in the BIOS.

Leaving it on would ....you know....leave it on

You would be running sound from the new card anyways, but turning onboard off would free up a lil memory.

Hi. Yes. The main board sound is usually an AC97 chip. You can have different sound sources but the soundcard will probably sound better.
