OK, so I was watching the deeply flawed Disney movie The Black Hole, and this one scene caught my attention. Have a look at 4:35-4:50 in this clip. (If you're smart you'll ignore the first 4 minutes as it's a pretty hamfisted action scene.)

Could this have been the inspiration for the boulder scene in Raiders where Indiana Jones runs towards the camera away from the giant rolling boulder?

Actually The Black Hole came out in 1979 and Raiders came out in 1981. I used to think that Raiders came first too.

Good call. Never it thought of it that way. George Lucas, god love him, isn't the most original writer in the world so I wouldn't doubt he was influenced by it. But to be honest there are a ton of movies that use that 'chase' sequence. They really used it a lot in the old westerns (with a runaway bull, horse, wagon, etc.)

The movie is flawed....but entertaining. It was the height of sci-fi when it came out. That killer robot was just wicked cool and the junkie one was funny.

actually i think it was the other way around.. Didnt Black hole come out after Raiders?

That meteor scene is a very classical shot.
