shouldn't the best answer to all these health questions be "go ask a doctor". i cant imagine there are too many doctors out there spending their free time on Yahoo Answers. i'm sure you are all very smart people... well i'm sure there are some smart people here at least, but i wouldn't trust you with my health. would anyone?

A few of us are doctors. On some questions such as "what is such-and-such disease?" we can inform. On others we can point in the right direction. But you are correct; for many questions the answer is "consult your doctor." But hopefully we have given the questioner some needed information.

You really shouldn't. I agree with you, but some folks just give general ideas and then do add that the person should see their doctor. I think that's the safest in the long run.
I agree that their really aren't any doctors who spend their free time here, but we do have some competent RNs who give excellent advice. They do, however, advise persons to see their doctor. ~
