It doesn't define it in terms of years -- it defines it by how they become president.

The math works out to about 10 years (give or take a few weeks) -- two terms of 4 years elected, plus under two years of someone else's term.

There are enough incorrect responses to this that I must comment. Ten years is correct: if a Vice President becomes President with less than two years remaining in the term, he can be elected in his own right to two terms, serving a total of just under ten years all together.
