I've thought of that too...it's illegal to try to take your own life even if you are suffering horribly due to some medical condition, yet a serial killer can have a painfree death by lethal injection and we all pay for the cost of that.

Some people are concerned that it could turn into a case where humans are euthanized when they become too much of a burden on the health care system.
I personally think it would be a good thing. I went to college to be a nurse and didn't bother to finish because of how bad off the elderly are. It's not the nursing home's fault either, it's the family members that insist on keeping grandma on a ventilator so that they can visit her once a month. I think it's just horrible.

This was actually my college term paper and it was a whole pandora's box. Very interesting for both sides and more than I realized.

My stance is, that yes, people should be able to decide if they are terminal. I see so many patients that would of been euthanized had they been animals.

But you get into families that are greedy, wanting money etc, so theres so many loop holes etc.

But I do agree people shouldn't suffer.

Depending on what state you live in, you can get doctor assisted suicide.

For example in Oregon, if you get 3 separate doctors to sign that you are suffering and have asked to be euthenized, they will issue the medications needed to end your suffering.

An animal can not tell someone what is going on, and can turn vicious, because of the pain, so the best thing is to put it down. My daughter had a cat that got feline lukimia, and it cost her over 600. for one vet visit. The cat was only good for a short period of time, and they finally had to have it put down.

There are some who insist on imposing their morality on the suffering. (and everyone else on a number of issues)
Those who are suffering from terminal or incurable maladies should be allowed the relief of death on their own terms.

Because most people don't see humans as they see animals.
Its a whole different feeling when you hear about a dead puppy than a dead child.

i have always believed that it is a double standard. i think that terminally ill people who are in pain should be able to die on their own terms.

I have long wondered that myself. I think it's a great idea.
