I know and it's all a scam. I watched a special a while back ago on 20/20 how people get taken advantage of and pressured to buy all these expensive caskets. That's why I already told my husband to put me in the cheapest casket or cremate me, whichever is cheaper. My spirit will have left my body so my body won't even matter anymore.

It doesn't have to cost much. Get cremated, no casket, no graveside service, no burial, nothing. Last time I checked (which was a while ago) it cost about 800 bucks.

And you can bring your own container to put the ashes in and take them home or take them to scatter them, don't have to buy a container from the funeral home at all.

Hold a get-together at the house afterwards instead of a memorial service at the funeral home, etc..

It never hurts to have an insurance policy for term life insurance for like 10 grand, this is very inexpensive (like 10 bucks a month) and will cover any funeral costs like that, if you keep the funeral costs at a minimum like that.

It costs nothing to die compared to what it costs to live! I don't mean living expenses. I am talking about the true cost to live life with courage and conviction.

As for the practical cost of death, you have to start with paying your estate tax on top of associated burial expenses. There is a trend towards "Natural Death" ceremonies and burials. Just Google the words "Natural Death" and you'll get a list of resources which can cut the cost of such expenses in half....!

Well it's like getting married, it shouldn't cost that much but people figure it's only once and go all out. I think the funeral homes sometimes really take advantage of grieving people and talk them into what they don't normally want.

You could always go the environmentally friendly way by having a biodegradable casket buried under a tree. They actually have 'graveyards' (fields) for them.

Your body can be disposed of cheaply if you don't care about the show.
Cremate keep the ashes in a box or scatter them in favorite place.

It doesn't cost so much to die. It's costs so much to get buried or cremated. Simple truth.
