I'm not. I am a libertarian. They need to throw both the Dems, and the Repubs out and elect a libertarian. I've thought that way for a long time. This is slowly turning into a Police State, and people are too dumb to see it. They need to get rid of all these morality laws, and stay out of peoples business.

I'm afraid of a libertarian way of life. I don't particularly trust my local congressman, because he's a d0uche, but I trust him a d@mn sight more than I do, say, Exxon. At least I can work to get my elected officials out of office.
The population as a whole is not strong enough or fast acting enough to allow for a libertarian system. I really don't want to return to an 1890's kind of a place, with little governmental oversight. I like my government oversight. I like OSHA, I like the FDA, I like knowing that my milk is just milk and my meat is from a cow only (barring discussions of the horrors of agribusiness and the lack of help from the FDA, because, dude, I know). I like my FEMA actually able to help people out. I like welfare, because, when I was a kid, I was a beneficiary. I'm a good, tax-paying, voting citizen now, and god only knows where I'd be without that. Probably dead, because you fine older tax-payers covered my appendectomy when I was three. Thanks.
I'm more socialist than most of the US, I freely admit, but I also freely admit that there are plenty of problems with that system as well. I prefer a nice democratic system where all of our ideologies pull against each other, preventing the worst from happening for too long. I'll keep you from getting too heartless and corporate-loving, and you'll keep me from getting stagnant and fascist. Everyone wins!

Most people are afraid of Freedom. Having to make their own decisions, and having those decisions count seems to be too much for them, even with a strong social safety net in place.
I don't trust government. But Nature don't tolerate vacuums. And I trust Corporations even less.
Take Health Care, for instance. Would you rather have your life in the hands of lazy government bureaucrats? Or in the hands of highly motivated corporate bureaucrats who consider every claim a personal affront and a threat to their profit sharing?
An honest politician? It happens, but it's rare. Mostly it's the Chicago definition of an honest pol, "One who stays bought."
But, I always liked Lyndon Johnson's definition, "An honest politician is one who can take their money, drink their whiskey, screw their women and still vote against them."
I think understanding that explains a lot of Bill Clinton's popularity and effectiveness.

I don't think I've ever trusted government at all to represent me or take care of issues that involve me as a citizen of the US. It's not about parties...it's about politics. I'd really like to see a move towards minimal government, but I don't think the rest of the US is self-sufficient enough to stop relying on the government to do everything for them.

No...don't trust 'em now, and didn't trust them before. There's no such thing as an honest politician, one that's not driven by power or money, or who is concerned very much about ethical decision making (without involving the Bible.) I'll go a bit further and say that I think our government is becoming more and more intrusive on our own personal, individual liberties, and I worry that our democracy is becoming less democratic (there is an imbalance of political power- the "majority" is heard and acknowledged less and less.) As a result, people are becoming increasingly apathetic about invoking their own political power (voting, lobbying, etc.) because they feel it is futile, they might feel like the fate of our country is really no longer in the "people's" hands.
Just my opinion.

I'm only a socialist when it comes to the most fundamental services that every citizen should have. Other than that, I consider myself a libertarian, but the politicians in my area seem to be doing a good enough job.

Really ,going trough life not trusting anybody,is an awful way of living.
It does not matter who is in charge. Most things are getting settled in the long run.We get the impression " They " do not get along. But this is also "politics"
In government are people who have morals and who have none.
The moral of the story is ,we have to keep our own house in order. live our own life halve decent. And not getting to upset about what we can not change. But do vote when it is time.
