there have been an ample amount of studies that show that red wine in a fair amount is actually good for you. but alcohol kills/damages your dendrites which is the branched ends of nerve cells that sends messages to the brain.
alcoholism will reduce ones life span substantially. a very common liver disease is cirrhosis, a liver disease
so in moderation wine/ beer can actually be good for you, but to much can reduce or life span or even kill you

Absolutely!! There are many health and social issues that alcohol effects.
Many people chose alcohol as their "drug of choice" to self medicate for depression. Some also think the socializing in a bar is the only way they can have fun and make friends, hence too much alcohol. It is easily abused and unless you are really in touch with yourself, you may even become addicted before you even recognize it. It is hard on your liver and kidneys, your brain cells and your blood sugar. It can cause weight gain and like I mentioned before depression.
Beyond that, if you do get to the point that you would have to detox yourself from alcohol, it is one of the most dangerous detox's that there is, you can have seizures, strokes, heart attacks.
Alcohol should be looked at as any other "drug" it is just as life destroying as if you had a heroin or cocaine addiction, the only differance is that you can get arrested for buying it, but there are plenty of other reasons to get arrested after abusing it, to make up for it.
Just a hint: No girl really wants a guy for a long term relationship that she meets in a bar, for the obvious reasons!!

Alcohol abuse reduces your life in a big way.. as to any alcohol.. well it all depends on how much you consume and you genetic disposition to alcohol.
In Italy there are some people who live to a very ripe age and they usaly drink a glass of red wine during a meal, but do not over consume alcohol and get drunk, shitfaced, or plastered.
Then there are some who only need a very small ammount of alcohol and they are drunk, so it's not good for them at all.
So I would always recomend to drink alcohol in moderation, but stay away from it if it has adverse effects on you.

Abuse of alcohol can increase your risk of certain diseases. But a glass of wine or a beer a day is actually healthy for you.
P.S Alcohol does not destroy brain cells, rather it damages the dendrites, the branched ends of nerve cells that sends messages to the brain.

yes, especially if you drink a lot. as they say, "too much of anything can be a bad thing."
excessive drinking can highly increase your risk of certain diseases and alcohol itself can be hard on the body (especially liver).
They do say a glass of wine a day is good for you. But that is only because it thins your blood (which is good for people who have a high coronary risk).

That would of course depend on how much you drink. If you are an alcoholic, it reduces your life dramatically. If you are a social drinker, it will not really impare you.
