Firstly don't panic. Have you consumed any iron rich foods lately? They can turn your bms black sometimes.

You might want to make a doctor's appt as soon as you can because there also could be internal bleeding and the only way they'll know about that is a stool sample.

Was there any blood when you wiped yourself?

It's probably nothing , but your best bet is to get checked out by your doc.

No, it's not really normal. It can be black from certain medications, but since you also have pain and vomiting, you could have a serious problem. You should call your doctor or go to an emergency room. Seriously - don't wait. If the blackness is blood (a doctor will be able to tell you), then you are at serious risk. It could be a bleeding ulcer, internal bleeding, or many other causes.

Depends on what you ate. Are you taking iron pills or taking medication on an empty stomach? Too much iron in your diet would leave stool black. It can also cause constipation, which could be the reason your stomach is hurting. Too much iron on an empty or not full stomach could cause you to throw up, too heavy on your stomach.

If you have to take iron pills, you want to drink a lot of water. Take the pills on a full stomach. Include foods high in fiber in your diet and lots of fruits and vegetables. It will help make the iron more soluble and will help your body properly absorb the iron better.

Black, tarry stools with a foul odor can be the result of eating certain foods, taking iron supplements, or possibly from internal bleeding. If the black color is from blood, it is known as "melena." The color indicates that the blood has been in the body for some time, and is coming from higher up in the gastrointestinal tract.

Black, tarry stools are usually a sign there is blood in your stool. You really need to see a doctor ASAP. Since it is the weekend, going to an Urgent Care Clinic or even the ER wouldn't be out of the question.

Of course you should be worried, goof-ball! Drinking excessively causes your liver functions to become retarded. Then, you start to develop Cirrhosis of the Liver (the liver cannot repair itself from this disease). Cirrhosis is a serious condition. Only 30 percent of patients with this problem will survive five years after diagnosis and the outlook is worse if the cause is alcohol and the patient continues to drink. The liver is responsible for removing poisonous substances from the blood. In cirrhosis, the blood may bypass the liver and these poisonous substances pass to the brain where they may result in alteration in brain function, causing confusion, drowsiness and finally coma. This is called hepatic encephalopathy. This is also serious and requires hospital treatment. It's okay to drink but you must give your body time in between to heal. Don't be stupid!

You need to see a Doctor rightaway. You need to have a stool sample taken. (Sometimes a black stool suggests blood in your feces) especially when accompanied by vomiting and stomach pains, this is something you need to seek medical attention for as soon as possible! Sometimes, the faster you take care of something, the better the prognosis, don't procrastinate! Sharon

lots of reasons for stool to be black, if you are taking too much iron (as in a vitamin) stools can also be black looking if there is old blood in it ( along with hurting and vomiting, better have it ck'd out)
