That's a good one. My initial reaction is that some of it is still in you.

Requires more thought.

I think what you've just asked is, Is idealism true? Idealism says that we have no knowledge of reality outside of what we perceive and no knowledge of what exists outside our own mind. Hence, once, **** is flushed, we have no knowledge of it's continued existence.

I think Bishop Berkeley an 18th century Irish philosopher and idealist would say that even though we don't continue to perceive it , the **** still exists because God perceives it.
It's tough being God, you have to think about a lot of unpleasant things.

My favorite version of this question is "How do you know that the light really turns off after you close the refrigerator door?"

See the Wikipedia article on George Berkeley for a funny limerick on God, the quad, and the tree.

Yep - I sure can, with a fun little trip to the local neighborhood mahole. Here we go. Now, let's lift up the cover, and climb down the ladder. Ah yes, the smell of "lost things" invites us in. Now, look around.... see that little brown thing over there? Yes, the squishy one... it's... it's..... a discarded tootsie roll someone flushed. See! It still exists!!!

And no, I can't, but you can't prove it doesn't so I squat vindicated.

Depends on how fast you can drive to the wastewater treatment plant, and if you'll know it when you see it...
