There is nothing I admire so much as a man who has the courage to speak the TRUTH. That is exactly what he did. charbatch should not confuse ignorant with retarded; this is a nasty insult to the retarded. Only the ignorant believe the INVASION of Iraq was legal. We aren't protecting our country; we're protecting oil. REAL Americans should all rise & applaud Pete Stark. I'd like to add that while this anarchist bunch are finding endless funds to kill & be killed, our brave troops are not only coming home in body bags, & body parts missing, but with severe psychological disorders caused by extended exposure, & tours of duty in Iraq, & the nonsense spouted of patriotism & support, has so little "respect" or gratitude, they can't find the money to minimally care for them.
To Who_Else?--yes Bloodlust Bush. The last part of Stark's quote is also true, as it applies to Bushs' mental disorder, but I would not have phrased it that way, considering political hysteria.
Who, of "sound" mind would not agree?
Edit: Congress was as deceived as the rest of the country, basing their judgment on LIES; the "Dems" are not responsible. Gary Dayton--I have the perfect quote for you: "It all only started when I hit him first." Iraq did NOT do anything to us, & we broke international law when we attacked them. WE stirred up the hornet's nest, destroying their country, & now all the "neighbours" are involved. We do NOT need to be dependent on foreign oil, & even if we did, this was never the solution.

It's a contentious issue, but I agree with most of what he said. I think we already have "socialized medicine" in the form of Medicare. So they are not preventing socialized medicine, and if they are they are wrong. Medical insurance MUST be made available to everyone. We are the ONLY developed country without universal health care. It's a matter of human rights - not some stupid political posturing. So, yes there is great shame here. Shame on Bush! I think he went too far by suggesting that getting our kids heads blown off amuses the president.

Let's examine how credible it is.
3 billion would be a mere drop in the proverbial bucket.. so you have to question his math and finance skills.
And, of course, there is nothing illegal about the "war" in Iraq. So his grasp on how governments and legal systems functions seems a bit shady.
Is there some area the guy does actually know what he's talking about that would make somebody agree with him that you're not sharing with us?

Yeah, well when sick children start bombing buildings and hijacking planes, then we might give them billions as well. But they don't do that, so we don't. No matter what Pete Stark lets drip out of his creepy yellow mouth!
God Bless America!

No, but it's obvious he agrees with ME.
I've been saying this for weeks now: Why does Republican distaste for "handouts" only erupt when it's Americans who need the assistance?
Why is hundreds of billions of dollars to Iraq is ok with Republicans, but $500 million to fund homeless shelters and free schools for their kids HERE IN THE US is just throwing money away to lazy shiftless no good bums?

I'm beginning to think that "Pete Stark" is either George Soros' or Micheal Moore's pen name.

Yes Pete Stark had it right - Dubya's fascination with death dates back at least to his days as Governor of Texas, when he set records for the least number of death sentences commuted - the guy clearly gets off on the pain and misery of others. Notice that Bush has not joined the chorus of those asking for an apology...

Not only do I disagree with this foulmouthed hate monger, I find his remarks the most despicable and repugnant I've EVER heard. The fact they were spoken without compunction from the well of the house by a congressman is reason for all REAL Americans to hang their heads in shame!
