A lot. We're talking about hitting balls coming at you at 90+ MPH! Plus, hitting them for like 370+ ft for a Homerun. It is not as easy as you would think. If your a pitcher it takes a lot of talent too. It's not like you see random people throwing baseball 90+ mph everywhere. They have just been blessed to be able to throw baseballs at high speeds. So it takes more talent that what you think. Let's see you hit a baseball coming at you at 90 mph and hit it 300ft (if you could even hit the ball). You need talent to steal bases too. You need to be fast and not all baseball players are like Jose Reyes. That is a talent he has over guys like David Ortiz.
It's the truth.

Well, if you have the talent to make it to the majors and stay a few years you will make MILLIONS of DOLLARS. You'd have to be stupid not to try and make it!
And it takes lots of talent to hit a 90mph pitch with a stick no bigger than your arm. Look at it this way, if a player has an average of .300 (that's hitting the ball aless than a third of the time you are at bat) he is an all-star. Taking that a bit further, you generally have 5 pitches per at bat, so if hit the ball once for every 15 pitches you are an all-star. 1 out of 15 is hitting the ball 7 percent of the time. If most people fail at something 94% of the time, I think that makes it pretty darn difficult.

The hardest thing in sports to do is hit a ROUND ball with a ROUND bat. Also, that ball is coming at you at an average of 90 MPH, from only 60 1/2 feet away. You need a lot of talent, you dork!

No, of course not.
Ball players are signed because they are extremely talented at the game.
IN FACT: Some players from college teams could of easily made the MLB, but they chose the other paths.
Many players are smart and could easily go into another career.
NOW
You need LOTS of talent to hit a ball with a stick and run around like a dog.
I want to see YOU step up to the plate, and MAKE CONTACT with a 97 mph fastball, or 85 mph curveball and make it to first base.
I think YOUR the one who's unintelligent.

Can you do it? Probably not. Hitting a round ball traveling near 100 mph with a round stick is not easy. For that matter, throwing that ball 60 feet through a box roughly 2 feet by 18 inches is no easy job. Try climbing down off your high horse and attempt it some time. Intelligence? not always.Talent? Yes, always.

They're intelligent enough to know that their ability to hit that little ball with a stick is so friggin hard to do that people are willing to pay them millions of dollars a year to do it .
Others have have said that they want to see you hit a 90+mph fstball ,I'll be nice to you. Go to a batting range and try to a hit a 60mph fastball
Easy math problem for an intellgent guy
At a distance of 60.5 'and a velocity of 88fps how long does that ball take to reach you ?

Well, I don't see you on the Yankees, so obviously you don't have enough talent to hit a ball with a stick. Almost every baseball player has graduated college, and most come from great colleges. So stop asking stupid questions!!!!!

well why don't you try. lets see have you got good hand i coordination you know you can't justg swing. the balls are going around 90 mph or more. theres a curveball, fastball, knuckleball, dropball. you also have to know the rules not just hit the ball and run. if they catch it your out. if you get 4 fouls your out. so unless you know ANYTHING about baseball i would shut up. oh and you also have to have muscle which i suppose you dont since your saying that about baseball. i dont think anyone cares what you think. why dont go join a baseball team then come back and say something. ok

A ton of talent, since the pitching in the major leagues is so good, that any hitter who gets 3 hits out of every 10 at bats is a good hitter. And if he can get 3 hits out of 9 at bats, he is great hitter.
