I thought the whole idea of the CR-RW is that you can reused it again, or overwrite that pre-existing stuff on it?

CD - "RW" stands for re-writable, right?

I figured it out. There's a pre-installed program on my Compaq lap top/Windows XP called "SONIC", and it basically does everything from burning DVD's or CD's, and erasing the CD-RW's. Thanks anyways.

You cannot just "OVERWRITE" or write over the pre-existing data, you have to ERASED them first, then reuse it like it's new!

There should be an option to erase the disk on whatever program you use to burn CDs. Once you've erased, its like having a brand new blank CD.

Yes that is true. But are you sure you have CD-RW and not CD-R ?? I think basically you can just stick the cd in and overwrite all the stuff and a little warning should pop up saying 'there is exsisting data on this CD-RW are you sure you wish to overwrite?' or something along those lines and just click yes! If that doesn't happen then i suggest going into my computer whilst the disk is in the drive and then clicking on the disk drive that the CD-RW is in and then just manually deleting all the data and files and then put new ones on! Hope it helps (if you need me let me know!!) xx

CD-RWs are rewitable. There are like a flash drive but a disc.
If you want to put new music on it:
1st Put disc in drive and open up "My Computer"
Then when it reads open the D drive from the My Computer page and it will show the files on your disc.
Then Higlight them all and hit "Delete"
they will delete and then it like you never had anything on there. Then open up whatever Media player you use and write the new disc :)

Try writing new files to it with a disc burning program like roxio or nero.
You can use those programs to delete old files or format the whole disc

Yep, you just have to erase the disc first. Go into XP and right click the drive and click erase.

Nope I don't think so either. Once you've burned a CD once then that's it I'm afraid.
Unless someone cleverer than me can enlighten us both coz that would save me a few quid buying new discs.

Try finding the cd under MY COMPUTER. Click on it and delete the things you do not want on it then place new ones on it.
