At 14 it's normal for periods to be like that. They were for me.
I wouldn't go on the pill yet. At 14 your body is still adjusting to having periods and won't be at its adult way until 17 or 18. Putting extra hormones in your body now while you don't need them will cause you problems later.
Wait a few years. If your periods are still bad, then you can get them yourself at 18 without asking her.
I have always had heavy periods - if and when I had them. I went on the pill 14 years ago for PCOS. The pill does NOT help cramps. My periods did get lighter, but they didn't lighten up until I had been on the pill for five years. Before I went on the pill, my periods lasted 7 days. On the pill, they last 6 days.

Have you tried ibuprofen? It is an anti inflammatory and so more effective than paracetamol. You can take it alongside, or opposite paracetamol, so you take paracetamol, then ibuprofen two hours later, then paracetamol after another two hours.
A tens machine from Lloyds might also be worth a try, some people I know have found them effective on pain, and I think it's okay to use on the abdomon.
Also, try a type of paracetamol that contains other painkillers - Paramol might be worth a go.
I find that Kwells helps with period pains, as they contain hyoscine, but this is not their purpose, so I would recommend that you consult a doctor or pharmacist first.
But I think it would be a good idea to go and see your GP.
Take your mum, and just ask what options there are for relieving period pain - the pill will be one, but doctors can also prescribe stronger anti inflammatories than are available over the counter.
Go see a doc, talk it through, and make the right decision for you!

Just ask your mom to arrange for you to go to a gynocologist to discuss your treatment options for your bad period. Then the gyno can prescribe the pill and she'll be less likely to be worried that you have ulterior motives.
It's probably a good idea to see a gyno anyway, to make sure that the pill is really the best option for you.
Good luck

You don't have to ask your mom for the pill specifically. Ask her if you can go to the doctor about your periods, and let the doctor suggest the pill. If the idea comes from the doctor, your mom will be less likely to assume that you want to have sex.

Ask her to make a doctors appointment and come with you to talk about birth control.
It's very likely that if you are on the right one your periods won't last so long and it'll help ease the cramping.
Just explain to her that you are not sexually active and don't think it would be an excuse to become sexually active. Just tell her that you've heard it can help stabilize your cycle.
Good Luck!

If your mum know what you are going through, she should understand. Get her to go with you to your GP and tell him/her about your trouble every month. Ask if the pill would help or if there is something else that would ease it. Then it wont look like you are looking it so you can have sex.
Good luck xxx

you can take two paracetamol and two ibuprofen at the same time as they work on different areas of the brain.
I would think about the pill as there are a lot of side affects in the long run...........they don't tell you about.
you may be well asking your mum to buy you one of them natural pain relievers as well,or you can get them heat pads to stick on your stomach........they are good.

or a tens machine.........then if none of that works the doctor can pescribe pain killers........feminex are good, you can buy them over the counter

tell her you've heard the pill can ease your period pain and that you would like her to take you to the docs to get some advice and to find out more, because you cant cope with the pain and time off school anymore, im sure she will agree
