I agree witht he person who mentioned the music backround in movies and tv shows. Just pick a few popular shows of your age group, and write about the background music in them. Include the way music makes the programs emotion surface. Another good idea? Since it is near halloween, why not write about how music plays a HUGE role in horror movies. Just think about your favorite horror film with NO scary music. Not very scary right? Where would movies like the Excorcist, Psycho and Halloween be without music?

You could write it on the life of a composer (Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Handel, etc). Or, you could write about how music affects our lives everyday (soundtrack in movies or tv, radio, music artists)
Good luck!!

Just do a biography on a composer. There's the most information on composers. It might not be the easiest thing to actually do, but there's so much info. that it makes it easier than everything else.

How about how music is used today:
adverts, background on movies/TV shows, theme songs, clubs/bars, partys etc.
... and perhaps how it has changed over the years (think of cavemen, then of tradional/ancient musicians from your country, think of mozart/beethoven, etc in the baroque era) and discuss how much (or little) music has to do with things like society or socialization
