I am a freshman in High School, and the starting kicker for myVarsity team, I can kick 37-yarders with ease, and my long is 48, which happened in practice.

I am already weighining my options for after High School, and I am wanting to get a scholarship to a small to big college program after High School, or be a walk-on.

So what is the range I should be aiming for.

Take a look at Colt David at LSU. His longest FG is 45 with about 68% for all but he's missed only 1 extra point out of 125 attempts and he has a full scholarship. I'd say get close to 100% accuracy on extra points then walk on at any non-BCS schools. Also precision is what really matters then with better coaching in college the distance will come. Of course if 35 yarders aren't automatic and emotions get the best of you then distance won't be worth anything.

Work on your leg strength. Field goals are just one part of the equation with kickoffs meaning a lot too. Coaches can find somebody that will kick 45 yarders all day long, they will keep the guy that can do that and have the opposition starting at the 20 all day too! Believe me when I say that because I kicked in HS and had the leg to put it over the bars from the 40 in ( that is a 57 yarder by the way, I lacked consistency though) but my form was a little weak and I wasn't able to convert the run-up on a kickoff into the extra power that I should have for touchbacks and eventually got replaced by the punter on kickoffs. Coaches from HS on up want the field position and it is very important to them.

45 with consistency will probably do it- the key being consistency. A long of 48 is good- better if it is pretty reliable rather than a 1 in 10 chance thing

if 48 is ur longest than id try to get that on a regular basis or some where round there. Shoot for 50 that would be a good goal.

Well, I think the big thing is not neccasarily how far you can kick in practice, but how far you can kick in a game under pressure with big guys charging at you. There are plenty of guys who can kick very far in a practice situation, but can not kick very accurate or far in game. It's all about bieng accurate while maintaining some distance.
