It's split between the United States and Canada, with the exception of Lake Michigan which is owned entirely by the United States. For the others, the border runs through the middle of the lakes, at about the halfway point.

Canada and the United States, both, except for Lake Michigan, which is entirely in the United States. Look at a map, there is a dotted line right through the middle of the Lakes.

some are in canada some in the usa.canada has the only entry point and exit point.
