I have a 5 bedroom house and I pay the utilities.We don't have central air we have radiators.Any advice.Thanks

go on budget billing, it helps me. i took out gas stove went to electric,dryer to. work alot that way ur never home, LOL put blanket around water heater. good luck it's a big house.

The best thing you could do would be to replace your thermostats with programmable ones. Typically the hvac system uses 30-50% of the utility bill. Programmable thermostats can save 10-15%. You could also install a switch(or get electrician)on your water heater if electric. Schedule all need hot water activities at same time each day (shower, laundry, dishes)and turn water heater off the rest of the day. Water heaters use about 40% of total power use of household.

Well I have been looking for ways to save this winter too this is what I have found. If you turn your thermostat down 10 degrees during the day while you are away this is supposed to help. Well try this site they have alot!!!

Turn heat down a bit. Dress warm (or cuddle more). Wash clothes only when you have a full load. Wash dishes only when you have a full load. If you are not sure if windows are tight, you can tape plastic sheeting over windows.
