I have tried salt baths, lavender oil and tea tree oil but nothing seems to work...

mine took about 6 weeks... the first 4 weeks were the worst. it takes ages to fully heal, as my doctor explained to me, it's because they use surgical scissors to make the cut. those scissors crush the nerves in the skin, before they cut through it, so it's a very painful wound in a very sensitive area. keep taking the baths, maybe put a few drops of baby oil in there to keep your skin supple. take painkillers if the wound is really uncomfortable (which i know it probably is), and just make sure the wound is kept clean and dry (when u are out of the bath. ) if things haven't improved within the next couple of weeks, or if it gets any worse, tell your doctor. i had to have anti biotics as my stitches were really tight and gave me hell. even now, 5 years on, my episiotomy scar still aches at times... also, it's really clever because i can now predict when it's going to rain, as my scar aches like hell when rain is due ! lol...

hope it gets better soon hon. x

I easily have had the two an episiotomy and a tear. The episiotomy took longer to heal than the 2nd beginning, as quickly as I suffered a tear relatively (the episiotomy have been so nicely repaired they did no longer word it and concept i could stretch!). save it clean and bathed. it is not interior the superb place for fast therapeutic! If it starts off to smell or discharge, get it appeared at.

I have had both an episiotomy and a tear. The episiotomy took longer to heal than the second birth, when I suffered a tear instead (the episiotomy had been so well repaired they didn't notice it and thought I would stretch!).

Keep it clean and bathed. It's not in the best place for quick healing! If it starts to smell or discharge, get it looked at.

Hi there,

Mine took months to heal - I got a big cut cause baby was born sunny side up and took too much head room to get out!

In fact I remember thinking at the time that there was a bit of skin left over because a bit just seemed to be hanging! Sounds gross, but that bit of skin shrunk in time and its normal now.

It's the sorest thing in the world I know how you feel honey, but it will get better months down the line, don't feel pressured into sex, because it's better that you enjoy it and if your worried about your cut or if its sore it'll be a nightmare.

Hope it heals for you soon!

Sophia

to be truthful , it was bearable only just by 6 weeks , it still ached upto 3 months , and often when my periods started back , i got a dull ache in it too that was 9 months after.... its nt as bad though salt is the best one but put stacks of sea salt in , im sure you know about the old hair dryer trick instead of drying yourself , and if you get chance to have a lie down do it panty free fresh air is helpful .
A lot of people swear by badedas bubble bath i beleive its a horse chestnut one , i did the tons of saltin teeny amonts of water....
keep your chin up it will be sorted soon on the other hand if its irratated or or smelling contact your gp or midwife /healthvisitor as you may have a minor infection which may be making it hard to heal , that said 3 weeks is early days really i kow you hear of some people up and at em from day 2 or something daft but for most it takes a bit longer...
good luck and congratulations on your new arrival

I had a double cut and it took at least two months. It took about a year until I couldn't feel the cut so it was very uncomfortable for me for a long time. Women will have varying times for healing so don't feel discouraged. I always made myself better by looking into my little one's face and all the discomforts seems to melt away. These little battle scars are well worth having a baby. Congratulations on your newborn!

i was quite shocked at mine the midwife told me my stitches would drop out in about a week but they dropped out 2 days after giving birth n they told me it would take 4-6 weeks to heal and about 8 to heal completely but it was healed in 2 weeks n fully healed in about a month.
i just think it all depends on your body n how big the cut was and the doctor who stitched it
hope this helps and congratulation on the new arrival
