I see that there is a common hidden teaching in all three of the Holy Books of the Jews, Christians and Muslims. Since a little boy I have been lead to believe that we all would come closer to the truth if we focused on what we have in common instead of our percieved differences.

There are plenty of people who wish to exploit the different perspectives of each of the faiths. I only want to exploit the things we have in common.

Please if you want to denigrate another persons religion there are leigions who will support you in that. Go to them to share those ideas. Here, please only focus on what good we have in common. Things like the worship of one God. Good deeds. Teachings of love. Things like that. I will select the answer that exploits the most teachings that are common to all three. Any negative feed back about anothers faith or religion will disqualifiy your entry.

Good Luck. Move forward in love!

I believe one other constant is the caveat Treat thy neighbour as thyself, or words to that effect. The problem is that exactly who counts as a neighbour is still under dispute....

Judaism, Christianity and Islam do have things in common when it concerns these 3 men, but there are also some differences.

Abraham is in all 3 religions an important person. He's the one that introduced the concept of 1 God to the world. Both in Judaism (Avraham) and in Christianity he is considered the first patriarch. In Islam he's also a prophet, and some muslims call Abraham (Ibrahim in Arabic) 'the first muslim' because muslims believe in some of his teachings.

Jesus is a different story. In Christianity Jesus is considered the son of God and the Messiah, whereas in Judaism he's considered a mere man who was crucified like many others in his time (not to mention that there were a lot of these so called 'fake messias', especially during the Roman occupation of Israel (later to be called Palestine by the Romans). In islam he's not considered the son of God nor a mere man, but another prophet sent by God.

Muhammed is only acknowledged in Islam. Muslims believe him to be the final of God's prophets.

The teachings of these 3 men have fathered 3 different religions, although some basic principles are the same. These being that there is one almighty God, and that people are to live by certain rules (these rules are different in each religion) so that they can be rewarded in 'heaven' (again different concepts).

You seek an honest and truthful answer so here is how this question should be looked at.

The nature of the Jewish and Christian religions set themselves apart from all other man made religions because the foundation for truth, holiness, compassion, love, and mercy is found in God and not in man. Man can only get the things he desires from God and they are hidden from a sinful and fallen man.

All other religions use man as a basis for this idealism.. This is why they stress man to look within himself to have peace with the world.

Well, Christians, Jews and Muslims all believe in Abraham. That's one thing. The only other similarity I see is that they all believe there is one truth and that the others are not true. For instance, I'm a Christian and I do not believe that Jews or Muslims alive today will go to heaven nor do I beleive anyone accept born again Christians will go to heaven. That's consistant with the covenant between God and Abraham and with the new covenant that came through Jesus Christ.

If you are looking for a feel good religion, there are a number of Hollywood religions and cults that would happily accept your money in exchange for false hope.

There are so many things that they have in common that it would be nearly impossible to list them all here. Fact is, they could be pretty easily 'rolled up' into a single religion (if it weren't for the 'religious leaders' who'd be out of a job ☺)

One comment; If you really want to understand Islam, you need more than just the Koran. You should also familiarize yourself with the Haditha (the 'diary' of the sayings and teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, may he be in eternal peace).

And no, I'm not a member of any of those religions. Nor of any organized religion. My people believe that each of us have our own, deeply personal and private, relationship with the Spirit World. And that it is different for each of us. It is a thing of which we rarely even speak.

I believe that the core of all religions sent by God is one ,because the source is ONE.
There are many common teachings, the most important for me: to believe that there is a second life where you will be judged for all your deeds to others as well as to yourself. So you have to be a helping ,loving & prouctive creature .
