video making please help?

My friends all make better videos than me because they have really awesome effects like snow falling and thunder i really want to be able to make better videos or just as good videos so they would stop teasing me please help

i only have windows movie maker and it only has maybe 15 effects that are rubbish

please try to give me a link to some freeware as im only a kid so i have a very small budget

Remember, it's not how many effects you have. It's not even about how many 'different' effects you have. It's all about TIMING. The when & where you use the effect for 'the most effectiveness'. Too many pointless effects would be overkill while one or 2 properly placed effects could make or break the pacing of the video you're making. So even though you have 'less' to work with, that doesn't mean you can't do 'more' than your co-horts. When George Lucas made the first 'Star Wars' he only had a budget of 10million to work with. Though that's alot to you & me, it wasn't very much to make the kind of movie he wanted to make. Hence, most of the original battle scenes were made out of egg cartons and aluminum foil. See, it's not what he used for the effects but in the way that he used them. Everything you film comes from your imagination and you are the only one who can put a limit on that! So don't let your friends limit you! :) and Good Luck!

There isn't any good freeware. You can get Sony Vegas for $70. There's also After Effects.

All of your friends videos, might be better than yours, but considering your a kid... Your friends videos SUCK I can tell and i haven't even seen them. Yours will be just as bad too. Kids making movies = not funny at all.

your the one that does it take no notice of the idiot above me and go on and learn, cant help except say try limewire, but wish you luck
