André Michelin apparently commissioned the creation of this jolly, rotund figure after his brother, Édouard[citation needed] , observed that a display of stacked tyres resembled a human form.

The Michelin man is one of the world's oldest trademarks. The man himself is called 'Bibendum' and resembles a human made up from stacked tyres.

to be honest he is a cartoon character made to look as if he's made from tyres so people have an image to relate to when they purchase
