Which do you prefer? Work while you are studying so you dont have to depend on your parents or just spend your parents' fortune and grant them all the access to your future?

Well, I worked a full-time job when I went to school and it was hard. I felt like I never had any chance to sleep or have a life of my own, it was just studying and work and then what little sleep I could get. Even though my parents did not pay for any of my studies, they still were in a position to have access to my future. One good thing about me paying for my own studies was that it made me appreciate my good grades more and strive for the best grades because I did not want to pay for a class with my hard earned money and then fail it. If I had parents that would pay for my college and help me out financially until school was finished, I would definately take them up on it. You have enough time after college to build an independent life and live free of your parents access. I say take this time now to enjoy your parents support as you will not always have that when you really have to go out in the world and grow up.

There's a 3rd option: Allow them to finance your studies IF THEY WANT TO and then determine your own future anyway. Their donation of funds towards your education is NOT a contractual obligation to 'grant them access to your future'. If it were, then the simple act of bringing you into the world would grant them total control of all your decisions for the rest of your life. And yet, it doesn't.

you're smart to realize that money always has strings.

you have a good sense of the decision.

personally i say take the parents' money is better in the long run, depending on exactly what they demand in return. and whether you can stand it. when you can't stand it stop taking their money.
