Is there a way to melt down metals at home to extract the valuable metals from them?

I would like to melt down old necklaces, coins, jewlery and just have bars of precious metals if it is possible. Anyone know how to do this

It's not as simple as it sounds. You need to get temperatures well in excess of what is usually attained by home appliances. You need specialized type crucibles. You need safety gear. You need coolants and some not-so-safe chemicals, such as acids.
